Show Notes

In this episode, Rev. Chris Gordon welcomes Rev. Dr. Daniel Borvan to tackle the frequently misunderstood and sensationalized topic of Eschatology, specifically addressing the concept of the Antichrist and the "end times." They take a look into the origins and decline of Dispensationalism—the system popularized by figures like Hal Lindsey and the _Scofield Reference Bible_—and contrast it with a historic, Reformed understanding of biblical prophecy. The discussion highlights how Jesus' prophecy in Matthew 24 concerning the destruction of the Temple was a judgement on Israel as a nation and the symbolic end of the old covenant system, pointing to Christ as the true Temple.

Rev. Gordon and Rev. Borvan emphasize that the "last days" began with the incarnation of Christ, and the entire age between Christ's ascension and His second coming is the expected period of suffering, false teachers, and antichrists. They discuss how the church's primary responsibility is not to dominate the political world or eradicate false religions, but to preach the gospel to prepare for Christ's return, finding strength and hope in the knowledge that victory is coming.
