On a previous show, Pastor Chad Vegas of Sovereign Grace Church in Bakersfield, CA visited the studio to talk about his path to slowly reforming his church and his intention for his ministers and his church to be examined, enabling them to come into the URC. In this episode he’s back to discuss how the subject of confessional membership and infant baptism has kept that from happening so far. Chris and Chad sit down for a candid discussion about Pastor Vegas’ unique situation and discuss distinctions between subscribe, ascent and practice. It's a worthwhile conversation that could work through ways to best to discern direction of membership based on individual cases.

Chad Vegas is the founding pastor of Sovereign Grace Church. After completing his M.A. in Theology at Talbot, and being the high school pastor at RiverLakes Community Church, Chad was called to plant a church in Bakersfield. He is also the founding board chairman of Radius International, an organization that trains people to plant churches among unreached language groups. His passion is to know Christ and to make him known. He has been married to Teresa since 1994, and they have two children and one grandson.
