Pastor Chris Gordon preaches on the seventh commandment from Proverbs 5, warning that adultery begins in the heart when desire for attention and fulfillment outside marriage is entertained, and that sexual sin promises vitality but destroys everything good in a person's life economically, physically, and spiritually. The passage uses a father's counsel to his son as a model for how parents must actively teach children about sexual purity, guarding against the lure of immorality in all its forms. The positive call of the commandment is to delight in and invest in the spouse God chose for you, recognizing that faithful marriage reflects the gospel story of Christ's love for his bride the church.
