In Psalm 73, Asaph wrestles with a crisis of faith as he observes the wicked prospering while he, a righteous man, suffers affliction, leading him to question God's goodness. His downward spiral of envy and doubt reaches a turning point when he enters the sanctuary of God, where worship and the preaching of the gospel restore his perspective. There he sees the true end of the wicked: they stand on slippery ground and will be swept away in a moment, their apparent ease a fleeting illusion. Asaph recovers with the realization that in having God he has everything: God holds his hand, guides him with counsel, and will receive him to glory. Pastor Chris calls believers to stop measuring God's goodness by earthly circumstances and instead rest in what they already possess in Christ, whose loving-kindness is better than life itself.
